Creative Play for Pre-K @ Quandary Antiques Cabin
Jul 7 @ 10:30 am – 11:00 am

A mini-class for mini-artists. Projects are 30 minutes long, and filled with crafty, silly and stimulating ideas and to provide parents the opportunity to be creative with their young ones.

For ages 1-5. To ensure a spot, register online. Parents are required to attend. Please register for child only.

Metalsmithing for Teens @ Hot Shop

Kimberly Nicoletti June 17 – Wire Wrapped Cabochon

Sharon Speedy June 24th – Wire wrapped rings.  Let’s explore how to wrap copper wire to create a few different styles of wire rings, some with bead enhancements. You will leave class with 1 or 2 sterling silver wire rings in a creative one of a kind design, using the copper designs as inspiration.

Sharon Speedy July 15 – Youth Chainmaille Bracelet. Chainmaille is a great creative activity that many of my students have loved. We will be making a byzantine bracelet using copper jump rings, additional beads and decorative copper wire hook. Other patterns may be explored but time will need to be considered to complete a finished product during class.

Sharon Speedy July 29 – Youth Decorative Dog Tags. We will explore identity and how we can express individual identity onto copper metal. Come prepared to learn how to cut and pierce copper, stamp and add surface decoration to your individual dog tag that will be polished and strung on a chain.

Wildflower Plein Air @ Gallery@OMH, Old Masonic Hall
Jul 8 @ 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

This class will take advantage of the wildflowers abundant in summer by taking our paints outdoors! We will spend the majority of class outside learning about light, color and layers in nature. All levels are welcome! 

Participants must be 15 or older to participate.  Participants must bring their own materials.

Please note that patrons will be check in on campus and commute to a different location for the class.  For the safety of our instructor, patrons must commute in their own vehicles.  

For the safety of our staff and patrons, all participants are required to wear a mask if they cannot maintain a physical distance of up to 6 feet from non-household members.  Please allow a minimum of 10 minutes prior to class start for this updated registration process.

Materials suggestion:

  • Paints of choice, with at least five colors to mix between. Preferably a yellow ocher, blue, cadmium red, white and green. All colors can be made with these but the more the better!
  • A jar with a lid to rinse brushes
  • Rag/paper towel
  • Paint pallet/paper plate/ plastic Tupperware
  • Stool/bucket for sitting
  • Small easel if available
  • Paper/primed canvas/primed panel for painting on
  • Brushes- at least three sizes, small, medium, large
  • Water bottle for rinsing brushes/extra for drinking.
Crafty Kids @ Quandary Antiques Cabin
Jul 8 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Get creative in a fun and relaxed environment! During each session, children will work on a new project, pushing the boundaries of imagination and invention. They will have the opportunity to explore new materials and techniques using a variety of mediums. 

For ages 6 and up. To ensure a spot, register online. Parents must register at Old Masonic Hall for first-time participants.

Beginner Metalsmithing Projects @ Hot Shop
Jul 8 @ 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm

In this class, students will be exposed to a different technique every week. No experience required. Participants will  take home a finished project each week and will develop skills to explore their practice independently, during Glass + Metals Independent Projects or Artist Hours.

Nature Made Crafts @ Quandary Antiques Cabin
Jul 9 @ 9:30 am – 12:30 pm

In this fun class, youth and teens will have the opportunity to explore creating with a variety of natural materials.  Participants will experience different nature inspired project weekly.  Ages 8-17 welcome.

Oil Painting – Still Life @ Gallery@OMH, Old Masonic Hall
Jul 10 @ 9:30 am – 12:30 pm

A fun and vibrant afternoon class for all levels with no experience necessary.  Participants will learn about the basics of oil form and the necessary materials to achieve the goal of bringing a painting to life.  In three hours, participants will create a painting of an animal of their choosing.  Participants should bring a picture of their favorite animal.

UPDATE: 6/26 Will focus on color theory and still life.  Remaining classes will focus on painting animals.

Muddy Buddies @ Ceramic Studio
Jul 10 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

This kid class acts more as a club, where students will be introduced to various ceramic processes and projects, and allowed to pursue their own creativity in clay with guidance from the instructor. We will mostly utilize hand building techniques, while wheel throwing will be an option for more advanced students. Ceramics is a multi session process, and it usually takes 2-3 classes to complete a project.  Firings occur when there is enough work to fill the kiln.

For ages 6 – 12. To ensure a spot, register online. The cost of the class includes clay, use of wheels, tools, and other studio equipment.

Clay Hand Building @ Ceramic Studio
Jul 10 @ 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm

“This class will experience clay hand building through the method of slab construction and slab manipulation, pinching and coiling to create decorative and also functional pieces. Projects will include cylinder vessels, slab boxes, pockets, tumblers, cups, mugs plates and much more. Each class will be a different specific project. This class will also explore many techniques for surface decoration as well as texture techniques that will make your utilitarian pieces come to life with design.  

Participants must be 15 or older to participate. The cost of the class includes clay, use of tools, and other studio equipment.
